Here are some pictures of our new Mobile Zip Line!
These all came from the official launch day for the new Mobile Zip Line! It was a great day full of fun and excitement as everyone got a chance to go for a ride! The Zip was a hit! Everyone loved it!
Thanks Texas Entertainment Group for the great videos!
Here are some videos from our latest installation in Summerlin, NV at Life Time Fitness. This is a very nice gym and is another good addition to the Lite Time family. This gym is not yet completed and is still in the construction phase, but you can still get a feel for the height of the climbing wall. It is using AB75 Auto-Belays to reach the top of the wall.
Spectrum Sports Int’l will be exhibiting and participating in the 5th annual Climbing Wall Association Summit in Boulder Colorado this week. We are very proud to be an active part of the CWA. The summit will be a great opportunity for industry professionals to meet and collaborate on the future of the climbing wall industry. Spectrum Sports Itn’l is a belay level sponsor of the summit and will have a booth available for everyone to come and get a first hand look at our benchmark Auto-Belay. We invite everyone who can to come by our booth and get first hand knowledge and instruction on our products. Anyone who can make it to the summit would love the experience. Here is a link the the website for the CWA.
The SSI install lead has just returned from a very successful installation in Qatar. He directed the installation of a 32′ (9.75 Meter) modular panel wall that was equipped with 4 Auto-Belays. The project consisted of 28 panels that established 4 routes.
Yet another attempt by one of our competitors supposing to mimic the safety of an SSI Auto-Belay has ended in a recall. We greatly sympathies with anybody who bought a unit from Applied Safety Solutions. Here is the official notice to the public.
“Potential Life Safety Issue
Climbing Wall Descender – 842400.G6, 842400.G8, 842400.G10 and 842400.G12
We have received a report of a Climbing Wall Descender No. 842400 failing and following internal investigation the manufacturer has traced the cause to a manufacturing problem which arose on 8th February 2010 and which has now been resolved. The problem is caused by the excess application of grease which may adversely affect the correct operation of the brake with the result that it may not arrest the descent of the user in extreme conditions, such as if the user makes dynamic moves (dynos). While the manufacturer considers there to be a low likelihood of failure, as a precaution all of the devices referred to below must be inspected and certified safe. This is potentially a life safety issue.
The issue potentially affects Climbing Wall Descender Products No. 842400.G6 (FP2/506GDD), 842400.G8 (FP2/508GDD), 842400.G10 (FP2/510GDD) and 842400.G12 (FP2/512GDD). These products were manufactured between 8th February 2010 and 17th December 2010, and are referred to as “Potentially Affected Products” in this notice. With immediate effect the Potentially Affected Products should not be used. This product recall does not affect any Climbing Wall Descender Products 842400 manufactured prior to 8th February 2010 unless the descent hub has been replaced between 8th February 2010 and 17th December 2010.
If you have one of the Potentially Affected Products, please either:
(1) Return the Potentially Affected Products to
Applied Safety Solutions Ltd
1 -3 Rock Lane West
Rock Ferry
Wirral
CH42 1RE
ENGLAND”
and here is a link to the site: http://www.climbingautobelay.co.uk/recall.html.
This is very unfortunate since many of the people that are effected were subject to a similar recall by MSA had just about a year and a half ago. It is very likely that many people were using these to replace there MSA units.
Please let us know if you are interested in a tried and true Auto-Belay that has proven itself over the last 15 years!
The new Auto-Belay Manual is almost ready to go to print. We are wrapping up the final details on it this week!
This manual will be full of pertinent information to keep your Auto-Belays running strong for years to come. It will have everything from service tips to spare part lists. It will be a big help to all Auto-Belay owners. Email service@spectrumsports.com to order your new manual. Also watch for a download-able copy to appear on the Auto-Belay web site soon.
As always, we are happy to get any feedback we can. If anyone has ideas of particular information you want put in the manual, let us know!
In these pictures you can get a pretty good idea of how the davits typically align on an Auto-Belay installation. While these are just a couple example pictures, there are many ways that the davits can be used. The davits can be welded into place or bolted depending on the application and location. It is important to make sure the pulley guards are not rubbing the cable and that the cable is tracking smoothly along the pulleys. For more details on davit installation, call SSI at (435)792-3883.
Spectrum Sports just returned from another great conference put on by the ACCT. The ACCT is the standardizing body that is bringing Ropes Course builders together. ACCT stands for the Association for Challenge Course Technology. The ACCT’s mission statement is that it “establishes and promotes the standard of care and measure of excellence that defines professional practice and effective challenge course programs. ACCT develops, refines, and publishes standards for installing, maintaining, and managing challenge courses; provides forums for education and professional development; and advocates for the challenge course industry.”
Spectrum Sports Int’l is proud to be a member of the ACCT and to participate in the conference. We feel that it is vital to educate and promote safe and practical practices. We are glad that our Auto-Belay fits the needs of ACCT members so well and at a affordable price.
Here are some pictures of the Auto-Belays that were recently installed at Trafalga in Lehi, UT. This FEC is experiencing great response to there new climbing wall built by Lance Merrill. It has a real rock look and texture. The look and feel of the wall is very unique and the costumers love it. The Auto-Belays provide an excellent cycle time that is both safe and secure. We love to see out belays in Trafalga and are excited about the success they are seeing.
